The idyllic Elzbach leads and crosses us to Eltz Castle. A sandbank has formed in the Elzbach below Eltz Castle. A great refreshment in the tropical weather.

Instead of visiting Eltz Castle, I preferred to explore the Elzbachtal while my companion wanted to go on a sightseeing tour of the castle (€12 and ban on taking photos). I was amazed by the idyll along the stream! A wonderful peace and quiet and I only met very few people on the way to the destination - Pyrmont Castle. Cooling your feet in the babbling stream is wonderful!! My companion picked me up again at the watermill below Pyrmont Castle. We agree that I made the better choice 😃

Very beautiful bridge over the Elzbach in Monreal. The bridge is the middle of three historic stone bridges in the town. On the bridge is the impressive sight from the 15th century, the Lion Monument. The four lions carved in basalt are among the most important monuments of their kind in the Rhineland due to their uniqueness. On the other side of the bridge is the statue of John of Nepomuk, who also gave the bridge its name "John's Bridge". Beautiful!

You would choose this route if you stopped by car in parking lot 1 for the purpose of viewing or if you took the bus, e.g. from Hatzenport station to this parking lot. Arriving by train and bus with a day ticket can be recommended with a clear conscience. It is a good idea to continue hiking after the visit, for example to one of the Moselle towns with a train connection.
