Once founded by hermits and monks who were dedicated to praying in solitude, the lonely place developed into a place of pilgrimage after around 1455. Destroyed in the Peasants' War in 1524, the chapel was rebuilt in 1540-1550. In 1632 during the Thirty Years' War it was destroyed again by the Swedes. The choir continued to be used for church services afterwards. 1790 last mass by the priest of Durbach. After that, the chapel was forgotten and until a few decades ago it was overgrown and almost impossible to find. The ruin was lovingly restored from 1988-1995. A visit to the ruined monastery is worthwhile at any time of the year. But especially in winter when there is snow and the sun is shining, extraordinary images are created.

The ruined monastery is really impressive. By far, such wonderful pictures were taken here because they offer so many perspectives. It is a place of peace and history and my absolute highlight. A footbridge continues behind the ruins so that you can extend your hiking route over the Allerheiligen waterfalls.
