The approximately 700-meter-long wall was intended as a retaining wall for a site on which an Adolf Hitler school and a district castle were to be built in the 1930s. Foundations and parts of the wall can still be seen in the forest.

Volperhausen Castle was first mentioned in 1462, the Oberbergisches Land Tourist Association speaks on its website of the beginning of the 16th century.
