Former missile bunker site (LA = Launch Area) under Nike Hercules until the end of the 80s. The actual missile bunkers, in which the 12.5m high Nike Hercules missiles - which were equipped with both conventional and ☢️ nuclear warheads (!) - are located in the lower part of the complex. Very clearly recognizable from above, the tall concrete radio mast of the facility also still stands, which was used for "as interception-proof as possible" - i.e. with as little transmission power as possible - communication a) down to the "Nutscheidt" barracks 4 km away - where most of the troops were stationed - and where Panabora is located today, and also b) "up" to the "Integrated Fire Control" (IFC) radar station 2 km away on the "Hohes Wäldchen" hilltop, where the targets were detected and, in case of launch, the missiles would also have been guided by radar.
