The stylish bridge over the White Water will replace the traditional improvisation of the crossing with beams, planks and rubber. But I have already met cyclists who, admiring the new bridge, nostalgically recall the old days, when they were accompanied by a hint of uncertainty - whether they will succeed or not with dry feet on the other side.

Edit: The beautiful new bridge is now open to traffic! The new bridge is scheduled to open in May 2025 👌💪🫶 as part of the new asphalt section from Kiełcz to the Prussian Route.

Along the former railway line, currently by the "Kolej na rower" bicycle path, there are 4 English oaks of outstanding size. The most impressive of them measures 320 cm at breast height. This thickness qualifies it for recognition as a natural monument. The others are not much worse. They were planted about 120 years ago. It is very likely that they are the same age as the railway line no. 371 Żagań - Wolsztyn. It is worth paying attention to them during a bicycle ride.

One of the most beautiful markets in Poland. It's unbelievable that at the moment nothing is functioning on the market (05.2024), There is nowhere to eat, no bar, restaurant, cafe and people. It is so beautiful and at the same time so sad that you would like to help somehow. How? Despite this, you must definitely visit this place. Currently (05.2024) the illumination of the tenement houses around the market is being installed, so the atmosphere will probably be just as amazing in the evening. The port bridge in Nowa Sól is the only movable bridge in Poland with a lifting span. It is one of the most valuable technical monuments not only in the country, representing the type of bridge construction and technical thought of the first half of the 20th century. The bridge was made by a company from Wrocław - Dittmar Wolfsohn & Co., in cooperation with the company August Klönne from Dortmund and put into operation in 1927. Located on the port canal, in place of older wooden bridges, the first mention of which comes from 1743. The bridge was damaged in 1945 by German troops, renovated in 1954-1956. Then the manual drive system was replaced with an electric one. Another comprehensive renovation was carried out in 1990-1992. While maintaining the original, general structural layout, new solutions were introduced that partially changed the silhouette of the facility - the bridge was widened and raised. The bridge is located over the port canal, along Al. Wolności, in the southwestern part of the city. Made of a single-span steel structure, with a 6 m wide road and adjacent sidewalks slightly over 1 m wide, covered with bituminous mass, placed on reinforced concrete abutments. Lever lifting mechanism based on steel ropes wound or unwound on electric or manual drums and counterweights of concrete and steel blocks. The lifting mechanism is located in the engine room, accessed via a steel ladder from the maintenance platform. The facility is available.
