June 18, 2025, Rest Area by the Osława River and Wooden Bridge, Zagórz

Fenced area on the Osława River below the Zagórz - Krościenko railway bridge. You can even grill using the prepared wood. You just have to bring sausages and other products, because there are no shops nearby. WW

If someone has thicker tires and doesn't like senselessly going uphill and then going downhill, they will like this shortcut. On the minus side, there is a change of surface from asphalt to grass and dirt. Coming from Zagórze, Velo San passes three posts and turns left at a right angle uphill towards the village of Dolina, while the proposed shortcut turns right onto a descending, grassy road leading along the edge of a meadow. Then it turns left at a right angle again, this time onto a poor dirt road, which may cause problems after heavy rainfall. In dry weather, the shortcut is a very convenient connection. WW

Today I drove over this bridge and was pleased to see that the planked surface had been improved. There are no longer any gaps lurking for a cyclist's wheel. Incidentally, I discovered that this bridge offers an interesting view of the trains passing by, and under the railway bridge you can see a wooden bridge on the bike path. There are three bridges in the vicinity - on a local road, on the Sanok - Zagórz railway line and on the Velo San bike path. WW

An additional hazard is the hole in the middle of the bridge near the barrier on the San side. It is easy to fall into this hole with your whole foot!

Recently, asphalt was laid on the last missing section (counting from the observation tower through Dolina to the Sewage Treatment Plant in Zagórz) - I mean the short section from the barbecue area on the San River towards the buildings of the village of Dolina. The section where the bicycle route moves away from the San River and has the character of a local street, without the "pedestrian and bicycle path" signs. When driving after dark, be careful of the deep ditch along this street.

Little traffic on the route, good quality asphalt for a road bike.

A bridge over the Brodek stream near its mouth to the San, on a local road leading to DK84 Sanok - Zagórz, and in the other direction leading to an asphalt pedestrian and bicycle path to Zagórz. The temporarily repaired wooden surface of the bridge poses a threat to cyclists. Thick boards were laid along the bridge, protruding above the road level and not covering the entire surface of the bridge. The ends of the boards have been beveled to pose less of a threat to passing vehicles, but a bicycle tire can easily fall between the boards and cause an accident. Be careful, especially after dark. If someone is planning to get here by car, do not park in the square in front of the building located about 100 meters before the bend in front of the bridge - despite the large amount of free space, the host is reluctant to look at visitors and tells them to find another place to park. Private land - he has this right. WW

In times long past, the Market Square in Sanok was an oasis of greenery in this part of the city. After the change of regime, the trees were cut down, and the Market Square was paved mostly in red, hence its name, Red Square. On hot days, the center of the square is unbearably hot. You can seek refreshment under the umbrellas where ice cream is sold, or by the fountain located closer to City Hall. Even better, stop by the Franciscan Church for a moment and find not only refreshment but also peace. WW
