Leisnitz Water Trail

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

Very nice hiking trail up the mountain along the Leisnitz river. From there you can hike to the Schlögelberger inn or to the Bonner Hütte, for example. There are some waterfalls and play stations for children. A treasure map and a book for children are available in the valley, which you can take with you on the hike to mark the different stations. At the Schlögelberger inn, the children can then choose a courage stone from a treasure chest.

Katschberg - Liesertal - Maltatal: cycle tour

Endurance is certainly required on this tour - we have an approx. 34 km long bike tour (there & back) ahead of us. We start the tour in the artist town of Gmünd. The route meanders mostly along the Malta River to the "Hinteres Maltatal". We come through several small towns and have the opportunity to discover flora and fauna off the main road. We pass the Maltatal donkey park, Fallbach - Carinthia's highest waterfall with the Fallbach water adventure park before we reach our destination, the toll station. We can take a break in the "Alpenrestaurant Fallerhütte".
Motivated, we then start the return journey. Many rest areas along the Malta River invite you to make a stopover.

Lower Gössfall

Highlight • Waterfall

The Göß Falls are located in the beautifully situated Malta Valley and are ideal for a short break from the motorway.
If you still have a little time, you can take the circular hiking trail around the Göß Falls. (approx. 45 minutes and sturdy shoes)

The path is great. Always close to the Leisnitz. It is difficult for new hikers at first. You just have to take breaks more often. And there can be cows in the way. The Bonner Alm is very beautifully situated but needs to improve on the food. But on the way back we made a detour to the Schlögl mountain inn. The mountain inn is recommended. Game enclosure, plus llamas, pedal cars for children, and there is also a sauna. The food is also great.

Now that the Punschkuchl team from Tulln has taken over the hut, it is hipper, a bit more alternative and much more loving than other huts. You can go SUP, at 8 there is yoga with a view of the Hafner and the breakfast buffet is absolutely amazing.

Great waterfall. Right in front of it there is a water playground for children with a barbecue area. You can get very close to the waterfall, but you have to pay an entrance fee. There is a discount for Kärnten Card holders

The water rushes into the corner like a slide, and from here the climb through the forest begins.
