According to legend, it was the Ebmeyer farm and three other large farmers who received Widukind's body in Enger and carried it into the church. Thus, these Sattelmeier farms are said to have been in Widukind's service in the 9th century and always had to keep a rideable and saddled horse ready for the sovereign or messengers. However, this function of the Ebmeyer farm can only be proven a few hundred years later in the service of the Count of Ravensberg.

The Meierhof is located as a neighbor next to the Ebmeyer farm and belongs to the Meyer-Johann farming family. Here too, one can look back on a history of centuries, if not millennia, making it the second of now 5 known Sattelmeier farms in Enger. The influence the Sattelmeier had back then is, by the way, astonishing. For example, it is documented by the farmer Meyer-Johann that he corresponded with Bismarck. He wanted to name an oak tree on his property after him at the time, which was thankfully permitted by Bismarck himself. According to legends, the farmers Ebmeyer, the Meyer-Johann farm, and two other Sattelmeier farms received Widukind's body in the 9th century and carried it into the Enger church. More information about the farm is available via the QR code at the property entrance via audio guide.

The source and the headwaters of the Bolldammbach can only be reached "off-grid". A very beautiful spot near the Ringsthof. But whether you want to expose yourself to the wrath of the unfriendly and even malicious landowners is something everyone has to decide for themselves.
