The Vienna River is a river that flows through the Austrian capital Vienna. It rises in the Vienna Woods and flows into the Danube Canal. It is around 34 kilometers long and has a catchment area of around 230 square kilometers. The Vienna River was regulated in the 19th century to control the risk of flooding. He was forced into a concrete bed and straightened. This had a negative impact on the fauna and flora of the river. However, measures to renaturate the Vienna River have been carried out for several years. An attempt is made to give the river more space and structure by giving it differences in level and bends.
