Manorville Hills Mountain Bike Trail

18.6km

01:34

120m

The Manorville Hills Mountain Bike Trail offers a unique and challenging ride through the Long Island Central Pine Barrens. You'll encounter constant hills and varied climbs, navigating through lush woodlands and the distinctive 'knob and kettle' glacial topography. Keep an eye out for the numerous glacial erratics, some playfully named, which add a unique character to the landscape as you ride.

This 11.5-mile (18.6 km) route, with 402 feet (123 metres) of elevation gain and an estimated duration of 1 hour and 34 minutes, is physically demanding despite its 'easy' Komoot rating. It's considered a 'difficult intermediate' trail, best suited for riders with advanced skills. There are no easy bail-out points once on the main loop, so plan accordingly and carry enough water.

Manorville Hills boasts the longest continuous stretch of roadless land on Long Island, making it a true escape into nature. The trail is well-marked with blue blazes, and its unique glacial features, like the erratics and 'knob and kettle' formations, are a direct result of ancient glaciers, offering a fascinating geological backdrop to your mountain biking adventure.

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Recreational Trail is a 9.5-mile trail that is mostly paved and, in some places, hard-packed dirt. It is mostly flat and takes bikers on long stretches around the Calverton Executive Airpark.

Grumman Memorial Park is right next to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Recreational Trail. The park is open every day from 9 a.m.–5 p.m., and features two retired military planes. There are benches and informational plaques to read. It was a cool opportunity to see these aircraft up close and personal in this intimate park.

Great singletrack, but watch out for hairpin trees, and spiderwebs.
