I highly recommend the Vanderbilt Motor Parkway bike path. This is a beautiful wide bike path that has a pretty long gradual downhill if you go in the correct direction. The pictures do not show how enjoyable of a ride it is.

Pretty wide asphalt road through the wooded park, which bikes and hikers share. Additional smaller, unpaved hiking trails can be explored on foot.

Thrilla Trail starts gently with nice berms and optional drops. Later on you hit a few difficult skinnies and some rocky sections and bigger drops before you finally reach the pumptrack.

I would not consider this a destination, nor a point of exploration. It's a sanctuary for those who live nearby and an oasis for those of us passing through, which includes cyclists and birds. It's a cool and refreshing treat when making your way between points of nature. If it's convenient add it to your route.

The southeastern-most point in NYC — the beach here faces the Atlantic Ocean where it meets Reynolds Channel, and is accessible via riding on the paved boardwalk all the way from Belle Harbor.
