This is one heck of a bridge - an incredible feat of engineering, and good separation of cyclists and pedestrians. But be warned - air quality is terrible! Don't be fooled by the locals working out and jogging on this bridge - multiple lanes of car traffic are right below, spewing out all kinds of toxic fumes.

There is a dedicated 2 way bike path as of 5/18/25. Watch for e-bikes.

Great for riding a bike. Separated from the cars. Great view of the Eastside and the East River.

With parking and plenty of room to picnic and have a swim, this beach area is a great spot to start and finish your ride on a hot summers day.

Enjoy all the Park has to offer! Besides the baseball field, basketball court, tennis courts, and .22 mile running track, a volleyball court has been set up on the grass and two all- weather tennis courts have also been lined to accommodate four pickle ball courts.

Visitors can swim in Hempstead Harbor and enjoy picnic area. This beach provides sunfish/sailfish/kayak racks, boat launching ramp, 272-slip marina, playground, swimming pool and half-court basketball. In 1977, the pool at Tappen Beach, which was roughly 50 years old, was shut down because it was deemed to be unsafe by inspectors. It was replaced at a cost of roughly $731,000 in 1983, or $2.24mm in todays dollars accounting for inflation.

Southern entry into Central Park. If you want to go north through Manhattan, there is the possibility to escape the dense New York traffic here in the park in addition to the Hudson Trail on the bank.
