This small town on the Nevada-California border owes its name to the Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi, whose name was pulled out of a hat by the found of the Central Pacific Railroad. Its location along the banks of the Truckee River make it a great spot to go for a run, as there are multiple trails along the river's banks. The Sasquatch Tavern & Grill is the best place to fill up pre or post run.

Crystal Peak Park is a beautiful riverside park with shaded picnic areas and river access. Wonderful to go for a run next to the Truckee River. There's also a few ruins left from a former resort that was located here at the start of the 20th century. Even on busier days there's enough room to not feel crowded.
