Der Lag da Pigniu, also known as Panixersee, lies beautifully nestled in an impressive alpine mountain landscape. The turquoise reservoir, the steep rock faces and the imposing waterfalls at the rear end of the lake make this place a special hiking destination. At the second, rear waterfall, a path also leads directly to it, so you can observe it up close and feel the water. At the waterfalls, there is a beautiful barbecue and picnic area with tables and benches – ideal for a cozy break in the middle of nature. Important: One side of the path around the lake is currently closed. Therefore, a complete circuit is not currently possible. The closure must be strictly observed. Despite the restriction, the excursion to Panixersee is worthwhile. Especially the waterfalls and the quiet, impressive mountain scenery make the visit rewarding.

The Riesen Parpaner Rothorn, Aroser Rothorn, Piz Mez and Lenzerhorn form a mighty mountain cirque up here, from whose slopes, especially in spring when the snow melts, many small rivulets flow down. At the Alp Sanaspans, they collect and form the mountain stream Aua da Sanaspans there. This stream plunges about 40 meters down over two stages at the deep rock cut, thus forming the impressive waterfall. This can be seen well from the hiking trail, but only an unsecured, unmarked game trail leads to the foot of the waterfall. Nearby there is a great barbecue area with a fixed barbecue pit, a well, and wooden tables.

Cascada da Bernina waterfall trail The Cascada da Bernina waterfall trail The waterfall trail is a short but extremely worthwhile adventure hike along the Cascada da Bernina. In just 600 meters, it overcomes a total of 85 meters in altitude. This makes the nature all the more magnificent along the Ova da Bernina mountain stream, which rushes down into the valley over several cascades. The entrance is at the Morteratsch RhB station in the direction of the car park. From three viewing platforms you can watch the torrent make its way through the pristine mountain forest. Sometimes it falls foaming over rocks, sometimes it builds up to form natural whirlpools. On the first viewing platform, a railway viaduct on the Bernina line is at the center. On the other two platforms you can learn exciting things about hydropower and wine transport. Gletschergarten, Cavaglia (Poschiavo) A natural gem, the pots of the giants, shaped by the glaciers of the ice ages, located in the basin of Cavaglia at the foot of the Bernina massif, overlooked by Piz Palü! Access to the glacial mills is extremely easy: they are located near the train station, which can be reached by the legendary "little red train", part of the UNESCO World Heritage since 2008. The glacier garden is open from May to October. Framed by rich flora and varied alpine vegetation, the glacial mills are one of the most impressive sights that Val Poschiavo has to offer!
