In 1729, Prince Leopold of Anhalt [...] built a water mill on the Jonitz mill arm, the so-called Penekel or Berber, the Jonitz Mill. [...] During this time, a multitude of [damaging] events had struck the mill, frequent floods or devastating fires. The necessary renovations were well utilized, so that at the time of Oskar Schlobach's death in 1944, a highly modern, very efficient operation existed [...] In 1954, Gerhard Zühlke, the eldest son of Katharina Zühlke, née Schlobach (daughter of Oskar Schlobach), took over the management of the company. He was particularly affected by the major floods of 1954 and 1974, the forced collectivization of agriculture, restrictions on the ongoing mill operation, the fire disaster of 1971 (the mill production building remains a ruin to this day), the state's prevention of reconstruction, and finally the expropriation in 1972. He managed the operation for the production of brewing grits until 1981, then left the mill and his homeland with his family. [...] Since July 2000, the new hydroelectric power plant has been running, generating electricity for 400 households; the property again has its own transformer station. The still existing buildings were functional structures for their use at the time [...] In the garden gate, facing the street, flanked by 2 millstones, the miller's greeting is written: "Good luck!" https://www.axel-hausmann.de/sites_orte/jonitzer%20muehle.htm
