A beautiful landmark right at the beginning (or end) of the tour! The historic church in Neuhausen, with its distinctive tower, is not only a great photo opportunity in the valley but also serves as a great anchor point for the kids. Our tip: When you later climb the slope towards Schwartenberg, turn it into a little scavenger hunt – 'Who spots the church tower first from up here?' Those who wish can take a quick look inside beforehand to enjoy the peace and quiet once more before the upcoming ascent. ⛪ Checked & found absolutely family-friendly by @wanderfamilie.erzgebirge

As early as 1346, Cistercian monks built a small church on the site where the magnificent church now stands. During the Reformation, the previously Catholic parish became Protestant, with Neuhausen serving as the mother church for the surrounding villages. In 1624, the new Romanesque church, with approximately 1,500 seats, was consecrated. It was destroyed by a major fire in 1863 and rebuilt in the Gothic style by 1868, with approximately 1,000 seats. Notable works of art include the wooden altar with its painting, the ornate pulpit, and the Jehmlich organ. The church can be visited by appointment. Services and concerts are held regularly. https://neuhausen.de/kirche-neuhausen/

In 2001, Fláje consisted of 3 houses, in which 20 people lived.[5] From the old village, the foundations of the relocated church and houses are still visible on the eastern shore of the reservoir.

The Flaje Dam (Fláje Dam) The Flaje Dam is a major drinking water reservoir in the Czech part of the Ore Mountains. * Location: It is located in the Eastern Ore Mountains, northwest of the municipality of Český Jiřetín (Georgendorf) and southeast of the town of Fláje (Fleyh), after which it bears its name. It is relatively close to the German-Czech border. * Purpose: Its primary and most important function is to supply drinking water to the region around Most (Brüx) and other parts of Northern Bohemia. Therefore, access to the lake and swimming are strictly prohibited to protect water quality. * Construction: The dam was built between 1951 and 1964. Its construction was a feat of engineering, as it is the only pier dam in the Czech Republic. This means that the dam consists of individual, vertical piers, giving it an unusual and striking appearance.
