The Sky Meadows State Park is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The former owner Paul Mellon named his property Skye Farm after the Scottish Isle of Skye. He donated the land in 1975 and since then it has not only been a great place for hiking and horseback riding, but it also offers the Mt. Bleak-Skye Farm. Here you can explore a total of 23 historic buildings from the area. More info: dcr.virginia.gov/state-parks/sky-meadows

The Cool Spring Battlefield (often referred to as the Shenandoah River Campus at Cool Spring Battlefield) is a historical location from the Civil War. There is a lot of history to learn about here, and there are informational signs with a guided walking tour if you are interested. The paths around the property are smooth and easy to follow, so anyone in the family can likely get out for this walk.

Great Country Farms is not only a great place for families but fur adults alike. Families can stay for a full day, enjoy the petting zoo, the playground, a jumping pillow, giant slides and even more. Additionally you can buy freshly harvested fruits and vegetables (or just pick them yourself). On the weekend the farm restaurants opens as well. More info: https://greatcountryfarms.com/
