That's how they used to build representative buildings. And the foundations of their predecessors were left visible for all to see.

Unfortunately, there's nothing to see here except a prohibition sign and a reference to a private road. Nor is there any indication of the source of the Soeste River. Perhaps the lack of water is due to the dry season, or perhaps it's climate change.

Here you will find a huge yew tree with a small bench underneath. The special thing is that the tree is about 15 meters tall. It is otherwise only known as a hedge plant of 2 meters, not as a tree. Please be careful, yew is poisonous. If you ever see a tree like this in a city, it often has a yellow sign with an owl on it and is protected. The Romans introduced yew to Germania because they thought it was a very useful tree species that grew well in Germania. So a yew is actually a neophyte, an introduced plant.

The small village church originally comes from Klein Escherde (Hildesheim district) and was rebuilt here in the museum village in Cloppenburg in 1977. The old church from 1699 with its basic dimensions of just seven by fifteen meters became too small for the community of Klein Escherde in the 1970s and they decided to build a new one. The museum village was thus able to take over the half-timbered building dedicated to the Holy Family with some of its inventory. All the pews, the tower clock with its heavy iron clockwork, the confessional, the harmonium and the 14 station pictures can therefore still be seen in the rebuilt building today. Of course, the building has already undergone a number of changes in its long life in Klein Escherde. This can be seen in the iron windows that were installed in the late 19th century as evidence of the industrial age. https://museumsdorf.de/visit/haeuser/kirche-aus-klein-escherde/
