The arrival point of the vertical km, with the Madonna della Neve chapel placed at the top and which can be visited freely, is the most important tooth of the 3, which make up the district of the 3 teeth of Cumiana. From Colle della Bessa, the climb is very steep and at times on stony ground with a stretch of fixed rope at the end, but in the absence of ice, snow or wet rock, it remains a difficult climb.

Not only the source of the Torrente Chisola, but you can borrow books at about 1140 hm (free books in the mountains :-) ). Unfortunately, I can't judge whether the spring has drinking water. To be on the safe side, I didn't drink it. In any case, my dog liked it, and it was definitely a cooling foot (paw) bath.

On Mount Freidour there is often wind and it is the usual place for those who practice paragliding. If you make a ring as per gpx excursion completed it is good to have sticks for the more sensitive to the steep descent on rocks hidden under residual foliage and slippery soil. Alternatively, go back until just below the Sperina hill and take the path to Rifugio Melano Casa Canada to be able to make a ring anyway. Ring from Borgata Dairin going up the path to Colle Ciardonet, then Path 049 SDB, named after David Bertrand, young AIB - Anti Forest Fires (who died in the Park of Monte San Giorgio di Piossasco during the fire of 1999), for Colle Sperina and Monte Freidour where we had our lunch break in the presence of the sun with a 360 ° view of the Alps and the Turin plain. On the summit of the mountain and at Colle Sperina there is the eternal memory in memory of the eight allied aviators who died in the night between 13 and 14 October 1944, in the impact of the four-engine B24 Liberator KH-239 of the South African Air Force against the summit of the Freidour, in flight to bring weapons and supplies to the partisans in action in the Vigone area. The crew consisted of South African, British, Scottish and Australian aviators aged between 20 and 24. Then continued on the path between ups and downs to Colle Aragno Occidentale and down to the Melano Refuge (Canada House of the Turin 2006 Winter Olympics) and continued on the dirt road to Colle Ciardonet (always up / down) and from here return to Dairin to the parking lot Sbarua, very large, sunny and outside the township (so yes, it requires a little more road and height difference to cover).

Beautiful walk, suitable for any season of the year. Watch out for the processionary moth in spring, at the beginning of the path starting from the Ciardonet hill you can see several nuclei near the path. The continuation of the excursion is also beautiful, which with a long ridge leads to Mount Tredenti.

A beautiful peak of the Pinerolo area with a panoramic view. In 1994 a winged monument was placed on the summit in memory of the 50th anniversary of the plane crash that cost the lives of 8 British airmen returning from an operation to supply aid to the partisans

It is located at the intersection of paths where, continuing uphill, you reach Mount Freidour

The park features diverse terrain, from lush forests of chestnut, birch, and beech trees to alpine sections leading to prominent peaks. You'll find trails shaped by the Torrente Chisola and its affluents, with some routes traversing rocky sections, especially towards the summits of Monte Tre Denti. Expect a mix of forested valleys, mountain passes, and open areas offering panoramic views.
Yes, there are over 100 easy hikes available. While specific easy routes aren't detailed here, the park offers many gentle forest walks. For example, parts of the area around Colle Pra L'Abbà provide scenic, less strenuous paths through beech forests, ideal for those new to hiking or looking for a relaxed outing.
Hikers can discover several significant landmarks and viewpoints. At the summit of Monte Freidour, you'll find the Monte Freidour RAF Memorial, commemorating British airmen. The Madonna della Neve Chapel (Monte Tre Denti) is accessible at one of Monte Tre Denti's peaks, offering impressive views. Additionally, Colle Pra L'Abbà is a mountain pass with a plateau perfect for resting and enjoying panoramic vistas.
Yes, many trails in the park are designed as circular routes, allowing you to start and end at the same point without retracing your steps. While specific circular routes aren't listed, the dense network of trails often allows for creating loops, such as the Forest trail to Colle Pra l'Abbà (via Route 006), which is a popular option for its scenic loop through woodlands.
The park is generally enjoyable for hiking from spring through autumn. Spring brings blooming flora like primroses and anemones, while autumn offers vibrant foliage in the chestnut, birch, and beech forests. While some trails are accessible in winter, higher alpine sections, especially towards Monte Tre Denti, can have rocky and icy conditions requiring caution and appropriate gear.
The Parco Naturale del Monte Tre Denti - Freidour is generally dog-friendly, allowing you to explore its diverse landscapes with your canine companion. However, it's always recommended to keep dogs on a leash, especially in areas with wildlife such as deer, chamois, and wild boar, and to respect any specific park regulations or signage you may encounter.
Yes, the park is shaped by the Torrente Chisola and its numerous affluents like Chisoletta, Rumiano, and Besasca. Many trails lead through forested valleys where you can encounter hidden waterfalls and rushing torrents. The area around Fontana Pieu and Source of the Chisola Stream is a good example of where you can experience these natural water features.
The area is highly rated by the komoot community, with an average score of 4.4 stars from over 2700 reviews. Hikers frequently praise the diverse landscapes, from lush forests to panoramic mountain peaks, and the well-maintained network of trails. The blend of natural beauty and historical points of interest, such as the RAF Memorial, also receives positive feedback.
Yes, the park offers nearly 100 difficult routes for experienced hikers. The excursion to Monte Tre Denti, for instance, is considered more demanding due to its length and significant ascents, including some rocky sections. The Monte Tre Denti and Freidour Memorial Trail (via CAI 007) is a good example of a challenging route that combines alpine sections with forest paths.
While the region is well-suited for hiking, direct public transport options to the trailheads within the Parco Naturale del Monte Tre Denti - Freidour can be limited. It's advisable to check local bus schedules from nearby towns like Cumiana, which might offer connections closer to the park's entry points. However, many visitors opt for personal vehicles to access the various starting points.
Yes, various parking areas are available near the trailheads, particularly in and around the municipality of Cumiana, which serves as a primary access point to the park. These spots are typically well-marked, but it's always a good idea to arrive early during peak seasons to secure a space, especially for popular routes leading to Monte Freidour or Monte Tre Denti.
