The road itself is superb, winding its way down to the sea, and offering magnificent views of the coast and the islands (Levant, Port-Cros and Porquerolles).

An interesting coastal path on the cycle paths, a little less so on the road returning from Le Lavandou (fortunately, few cars today). However, the section along the coast near the salt marshes follows a road closed by a gate; the alternative is to walk along the beach, but this path is prohibited for cyclists (only doable out of season, and/or in bad weather, which means you'll encounter few pedestrians).
