The funicular railway consists of two carriages connected by a wire rope that passes over a turntable at the top station. The downhill carriage pulls the uphill carriage with minimal additional energy consumption. The two carriages meet halfway along the route, which is why the single-track line has been double-tracked for a short section.

Funicular from 1905 - Muottas Muragl Muottas Muragl is the Engadin viewing mountain with a unique view of the Upper Engadin lake landscape and the Bernina massif. The funicular from 1905 was the first in the Engadin and still conveys a James Bond feeling today. Up at 2,456 m above sea level, a breathtaking panorama, romance and culinary delights await. Muottas Muragl invites you to snowshoe tours and winter hikes. The Philosopher's Trail leads along the thoughts of witty personalities such as Erich Kästner. On the short circular route "Senda d'Inspiraziun" you will find, among other things, the most precise sundial in the world. It shows the time with an accuracy of up to 10 seconds. Text / Source: ST.
