Today I drove around the island. There were also a lot of gravel roads uphill. The town of Calasetta is highly recommended. It has beautiful houses. Very well maintained. 😍

Calasetta is very beautiful, but somehow seems planned, the streets are at right angles and absolutely straight. We leave the town, which is at the northern end of Sant'Antioco, towards the west coast - it is important that the sea is always on the right. Before that, however, we visit the rock with the cross, which offers a beautiful view of the local beach and the harbor. The west coast of the island is fantastically beautiful and incredibly varied. There are again spectacular cliffs in all possible designs, rocks that stand in the sea like small islands, one with a large hole and the sea, which is still very wild today, crashing white foam against these rocks. The south is more of a paradise for those who want to swim. There are some beautiful beaches there, again in several designs. The beaches are quite busy, probably because it is Sunday. There are hardly any tourists, and it is very quiet everywhere, even on the streets. Although we leave the latter now and then and take paths or mountain bike trails, which is often difficult with our bikes. Funny detail: The island advertises itself as being bike-friendly, but there isn't a single bike path, not even in the capital. The plan was to go back to Sardinia today, but I underestimated the beauty of this island and how much time it would cost us. So we decided to spend a second night on Sant'Antioco, in the capital of the same name. It occurred to me that it would be enough to cycle around this island. After all, like the Isola di San Pietro, it is a small version of Sardinia, with the advantage that there aren't so many kilometers between the places worth seeing.

Before returning home I had planned this gravel tour .... Challenging for me because I'm not used to long rides (for me) ... Very nice full of ups and downs, 40% dirt and 60% asphalt ... Leave early because in August the temperatures are high after 11h. Nol together very satisfied for the colors the wind and the coves that can be seen.♥️🙋‍♂️

A short tour of "the island in front of the island" - on Sant' Antioco, an island off the southwestern tip of Sardinia, which is connected to the main island via a partly natural and partly artificial isthmus. You immediately notice that the "open sea is on your doorstep": the wind whistles strongly here. When I stopped to take photos 📷, I did NOT put the bike on the stand as a precaution, as the wind would have blown it over without a doubt 😆. The west coast of Sant' Antioco is just as rocky and rugged as the south coast of the main island (Sardinia), but the stone here is dark brown volcanic rock (mainly basalt and trachit, also limestone). The white beaches that Sardinia is famous for are therefore primarily found on the east coast - where my long-legged friends were also found in droves 🦩🦩🦩 Because of the "stiff breeze" I was really happy to have eww, support 🔌 - without it the round would have been quite a slog 🤪, but it was extremely enjoyable 👌😍 As an encore, to top it all off, I was even treated to a beautiful sunset... 🌅 Perfect! 😎

Hello everyone... to avoid the very busy state road that starts from Calasetta and goes to Sant'Antioco.... from Calasetta follow the signs for Cussorgia... you will travel along the other coast in complete tranquility... up to Sant'Antioco. 'antioch....
