Nestled amidst gorgeous woodland to the northeast of Aviemore, Loch Garten is a beautifully tranquil place for a stroll. It's a treat for birders, with many species to spot such as ospreys and capercaillie. In summer, watch dragonflies and damselflies darting about, while you can also spy common lizards.

Easy and pleasant walk to while away an hour ot two. Easy to find car park and close to facilities im Boat of Garten. A couple of muddy spots but generally good paths you can manage in trail shoes. Beautiful views and stunning woodland ecosystems.

Beautiful walk through protected Scottish coniferous forest in Abernethy Nature Reserve. The trails near Loch Garten tend to be relatively busy, but this less well-known route was surprisingly quiet. On this day with heavy clouds, a pleasant alternative to a walk (without a view) at height 👍🏻
