This route was planned by komoot.
It's almost an alpine hiking trail, so you should definitely wear sturdy shoes and be in good shape. Some sections are very steep and require a high level of attention. Another tip: since GPS sometimes fails and isn't always available online, you should have the maps available offline just in case, as the signage is poor... Otherwise, great views from the peaks...
⚠️ Technical problem with Komoot: I have no reception in the area of the Parking de Juanar parking lot. Despite offline maps and offline availability of the tour, it was not possible to start the (offline) navigation. Trying to load/open the tour from the "Saved Tours" list resulted in the error message "Apparently you are offline". Wtf Komoot!? To be able to load/open the offline available tour, I had to drive back down the serpentines towards Ojen for > 20 min until I found some reception - then drive back up to the parking lot for > 20 min... 🤬 Komoot then, with the (offline) tour previously loaded/opened down in the valley, at least indicated the direction - however, the map display showed neither paths nor POIs. Wtf Komoot!? Only halfway up to the Cruz did I get reception, from then on Komoot also worked again with map display, then also in further sections without reception. No offline tour could be loaded or navigation started offline. Lessons learned: Komoot is unreliable or does not work in offline environments - despite offline map material & offline available tours. Wtf Komoot!?!? So in the future: load the planned tour onto the Garmin - that also works offline. Save the parking lot position on Garmin! Possibly, navigation back is possible with this. During recorded activity also via "back to start" => TracBack or Route. Also offline. Did I already say => wtf Komoot!?!? ⛈️ The tour was planned as an extended round tour, freely based on: https://www.komoot.com/smarttour/e995674422 I didn't do the alpine trail over the Pico Tajo Negro this time. Next time then the Tres Picos round tour - in the opposite direction. Better to complete the challenging alpine trail first, then the further ascent to the Cruz de Juanar, which would then also be a nice endpoint of the tour. Cruz de Juanar offers a beautiful summit, a nice resting place with a view. Ideal destination e.g. as a warm-up for an arrival day - from the parking lot via the western ascent to the summit 1:05 h. Ascent via the west flank is fun, east flank not so nice to walk. The summit of Tajo Negro does not offer such a nice resting place, you only go up there because you want to.
