The tour starts from Nele. Specific parking information for Nele is not detailed in the provided data, but it is the designated starting point for this ring tour.
This particular ring tour is estimated to take approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes to complete. However, actual duration can vary based on individual fitness levels and time spent enjoying the scenery.
No, this trail is considered difficult and is not suitable for beginners. It requires good fitness, sure-footedness, sturdy shoes, and some alpine experience due to significant elevation changes and varied terrain.
Hikers can expect varied and challenging terrain. This includes exposed scree sections, wooded areas with potentially challenging footing, and possibly muddy or red sections. Some parts may feature
The route offers magnificent panoramic views. Key highlights include a View to the South and the dramatic setting of the Bruto Carestiato Hut itself. You can also expect panoramic views of the Moiazza and San Sebastiano mountains.
Yes, sections of this route overlap with several other notable trails. You will encounter parts of the Sentiero C.A.I. 554, the Alta via n. 1 delle Dolomiti - Dolomiten-Höhenweg Nr. 1, and the Dream path Munich-Venice. Smaller sections also coincide with the Ferrata Gianni Costantini, Vecchio Sentiero delle Stamere, and Percorso 4 Pass in doi.
While specific seasonal recommendations are not provided, trails in the Dolomites are generally best hiked from late spring to early autumn (June to September) when the weather is more stable and snow has melted. Always check local weather and trail conditions before heading out.
The provided information does not explicitly state whether dogs are allowed on this specific trail. It's advisable to check with local authorities or the Rifugio directly regarding their pet policies and any leash requirements before planning your hike with a dog.
Generally, there are no specific permits or entrance fees required for hiking on public trails within the Belluno Dolomites. However, it's always good practice to check for any local regulations or protected area rules that might apply to specific sections of your route.
The Bruto Carestiato Hut is a friendly and simple mountain hut offering a cozy atmosphere. It serves delicious food, including apple strudel, and provides comfortable accommodations in four-bed rooms. It's a great spot for a break or an overnight stay.
Given the trail's difficulty and varied terrain, you should pack sturdy hiking shoes with good ankle support, appropriate layers for changing weather conditions, rain gear, plenty of water, snacks, a map and compass or GPS device, and a first-aid kit. Trekking poles can also be very helpful on scree or steep sections.
Nice itinerary to spend a Sunday in the company of even those who generally don't go to the mountains much. The car park located just before arriving at Malga Framont is an excellent place to leave the car to do a ring which will then have a total difference in altitude of around 550 metres. The path that reaches Rifugio Carestiato is panoramic and presents no difficulty. After a lunch at the refuge we lay out in the sun for a while to enjoy this beautiful July day. So to complete the ring we made the long descent that took us to a piece of asphalt road that we had taken to get to the car park. Pleasant ride and within the reach of almost everyone. Fun day.
Today we went up above the Agordino for an excursion that I like so much. Route of quite high difficulty due to some sections with steep gradients. Lots of woods with the path intertwined with the roots of the trees, scree close to enormous rock walls, a good refuge in which to eat at an honest price and then the inevitable stream which, in this hot season, always brings a bit of refreshment . Vote 8!
The first section up to the refuge is very beautiful. The descent and ascent to the starting point are not very scenic and are uncomfortable.
