The Cheviot Summit

Highlight • Volcano

When you reach the 2,674-foot (815 m) high summit of The Cheviot, you are officially at the highest point in the Northumberland National Park. On a clear day, you can see the Lake District in the distance and even Edinburgh. A millstone slabbed pathway on the summit is the final part of the iconic long-distance route, the Pennine Way.

Cairn Hill

Highlight • Viewpoint

At 2,549 feet (777 m) high, Cairn Hill boasts spectacular views over the wild and empty landscape of the Cheviots. With Cushat Law and Bloodybush Edge visible in the distance, you have a great vantage point to admire the scenery and the wildlife. Cairn Hill is a lot more sheltered than the Cheviot, so make the most of a break from the wind here.

Hedgehope Hill Summit

Highlight • Viewpoint

Hedgehope Hill is not as rounded as its parent peak, the Cheviot. This means that it arguably gives a better panorama than its higher neighbour, which is seen beautifully across Harthorpe Valley. As the second highest peak in Northumberland, it's certainly worth exploring. Rugged border country at its best.

3rd attempt at this route and finally smashed it!. Comb fell was a breeze.
A decent strenuous route but has the be the bogiest hike ever. Spent so much time trying to find a route through countless mud holes and streams. 3.5k per hour 😯, slow and hard going. Wouldn't recommend at this time of year. Still, that's The Cheviot ticked off 🙂
