This route was planned by komoot.
This itinerary lasts approximately 4 hours, so you need to dedicate half a day to it, but with more time available you could easily extend it, also given the very accessible difference in altitude. In the first half of the route I followed the ridge path (never difficult or dangerous) which coincides perfectly with the Tuscan-Emilian watershed as well as the border between the provinces of Modena and Lucca. It is clearly constantly panoramic to the north and south; in particular on the unmistakable profile of the Apuan Alps. To avoid retracing the same route, for the return I chose a forest road with very few climbs or descents, a few km long and all within a beautiful beech forest, which allows you to reach, among other things, the beautiful village of San Pellegrino in Alpe . I recommend stopping at the panoramic point just below the church, passing a portico to access it. It would also be possible to do this tour by mountain bike, however replacing the ridge path with a forest path that follows it in parallel a few tens of meters below, but you would lose all the view you can enjoy from the ridge.
An extremely pleasant tour with enchanting views, very fresh stretches of forest and a stop at the Burigone refuge!
