This trail is a loop that typically starts and ends in or near Saint-Laurent-du-Verdon. You can find parking in the village to access the trailhead.
The trail is rated as moderate. While it's generally considered an easy hike from Saint-Laurent-du-Verdon, its 9.2 km distance and approximately 133 meters of elevation gain require a reasonable level of fitness.
You'll enjoy diverse scenery, including a View of the Verdon, a Canyon trail along the Verdon, and a Quiet bathing spot with beautiful lake views. The route offers picturesque views of the Verdon river and surrounding landscapes.
Given its moderate difficulty and approximately 2.5-hour duration, the trail is suitable for active families and beginners who are comfortable with a longer walk and some elevation changes. Always assess your group's fitness levels before starting.
The Verdon region is beautiful in spring and autumn when temperatures are milder. Summer can be very hot, so if you hike then, start early in the morning to avoid the midday heat. Winter can also be pleasant on clear days, but check for any icy conditions.
Yes, dogs are generally allowed on trails within the Verdon Regional Nature Reserve. However, it's always best to keep your dog on a leash to protect local wildlife and for the safety of other hikers.
No, there are no specific permits or entrance fees required to hike the Chapelle Notre-Dame-du-Verdon Trail, as it is located within the Verdon Regional Nature Reserve which is freely accessible.
While specific details for this exact loop are limited, trails in the Verdon region typically feature a mix of dirt paths, rocky sections, and sometimes wider tracks. Expect varied surfaces suitable for hiking boots.
Yes, sections of this route overlap with other official trails. You'll find it intersects with parts of the Coteau Chiron, TransVerdon, and Lacs du Verdon trails, among others.
As this is a natural trail, there are no dedicated restrooms or water refill stations directly on the route. It's advisable to use facilities in Saint-Laurent-du-Verdon before you start and carry enough water for the entire hike.
For this moderate hike, we recommend bringing plenty of water, sturdy hiking shoes, sun protection (hat, sunscreen), and snacks. A small first-aid kit and a fully charged phone are also good to have. Depending on the season, layers of clothing are advisable.
An extraordinarily beautiful hike along the Verdon. At the beginning and end through very beautiful countryside and then along the river and lake with wonderful views. Towards the end there are also a few places to swim. But unfortunately the water is as cold as it is beautiful to look at...otherwise just great!!!
A beautiful walk with very nice views and wonderful fresh swimming.
Very nice hike! Unfortunately, we did it in the rain.
