Hiking
The hiking area around the Buchberger Leite, which is under landscape protection, is one of the most impressive gorge landscapes in the Bavarian Forest. The supra-regional importance of the Buchberger Leite is demonstrated by the seal of approval "Bavaria's most beautiful geotopes" awarded by the Bavarian Ministry of the Environment. You will need sturdy shoes for the hike along the Saußbach and Wolfsteiner Ohe streams, as you will partly walk over stones and roots.
You start at the car park of the Freyung outdoor pool and initially hike along the Saußbach, passing a small reservoir. Then you change to the Wolfsteiner Ohe - in the Wildbachklamm the forces of nature are impressively visible. You can also marvel at a special flora and fauna here.
In the Buchberger Leite the dark pile slates are particularly massive and attractive. Past Wiedes Carbidwerk, where you cross a rock tunnel, you come to a suspension bridge over the Wolfsteiner Ohe and a little later you reach your destination in Ringelai. You can take the bus back to Freyung and, if necessary, stop at the Landhotel Brodinger.

We parked in Freyung and then wanted to take the bus back. Unfortunately, we realized too late that most bus connections are only available via dial-a-bus.
