This route was planned by komoot.
Unfortunately, as stated, the bus rarely or never runs. So we had to take a taxi. If we had known this beforehand, we would not have chosen this tour.
A very beautiful hike in almost untouched nature. In some places, certain surefootedness is required due to roots and rocky terrain. Appropriate footwear is recommended for safety reasons, especially during or after rainy weather. Otherwise, it's an easy hike, especially on hot summer days, as you'll always be hiking in cool shade.
Super nice, recommendable tour. You should be sure-footed, as there are many roots and stones. Away from the streets, you only hear nature. We parked in Freyung and then wanted to take the bus back. Unfortunately, we realized too late that most bus connections are only available via dial-a-bus.
Parking: free parking lot Freyung swimming pool Today we signed up for a guided tour. Today we want to take a look at the Buchberger Leite with an experienced hiking guide. The gorge along the Wolfsteiner Ohe and the Saußbach is very impressive and naturally beautiful. Our hiking guide always gives short, interesting little lectures on nature, history, the carbide plant and the interesting water management systems. Unfortunately we don't understand everything! https://www.bayerischer-wald.de/Media/Attraktionen/Wildbachklamm-Buchberger-Leite https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carbidwerk_Freyung The guided hike takes place every Tuesday at 9.45 a.m. (prior registration at the Freyung Tourist Information Office required)! We particularly liked the fact that the hike was organized in such a way that you could take the dial-a-bus from Freyung to Ringelai and thus hike the entire Buchberger Leite in a relaxed manner. Really highly recommended!
Beautiful gorge trail with countless highlights such as suspension bridges, a pedestrian tunnel and a magnificent river landscape. However, it is only partially possible to do it with public transport. Good planning and enough time is required.
The Wildbachklamm Buchberger Leite is a wildly romantic, primeval gorge landscape. It was awarded the seal of approval "Bavaria's most beautiful geotopes" by the Bavarian Ministry of the Environment. Our hike begins at the hiking car park in Ringelai and ends shortly before Freyung at the reservoir. Bus route 101 (Freyung - Ringelai - Perlesreut) runs between the starting point and destination, so that you can get back to the starting point quickly and comfortably. Special highlights of this tour are the wild and romantic gorge, the suspension bridge and the rock breakthrough at the carbide works. The route is not particularly difficult, but there should be a certain surefootedness. The gorge is not suitable for strollers or wheelchair users. All inns in Ringelai are currently closed. Otherwise this is a very nice tour. The water is rushing all the time. There are waterfalls, you go through a cave and over a suspension bridge.
