Trail Reviews

Lotte
September 1, 2021, Monte Prato Fiorito

The Monte Prato Fiorito (1297 m) is a popular mountain in the Lucca area, as one has a wonderful view from the marble pinnacles of the Apuan Alps to the sea. From San Cassiano with the Romanesque church it goes on well-maintained hiking trails towards the sun to the ridge of Monte Prato Fiorito. The path follows the Alta Via dei Pastori, a former shepherd's path. The ridge hike over meadows - which gave the mountain its name - offers an unobstructed view of the tops and peaks. From the summit cross we wanted to take the path on the left back to San Cassiano, but we did not find the path, and the cross-connection between the two paths does not exist either - it simply cannot be found. The path over the Foce al Trebbio turned out to be a stroke of luck, however, because from there you can get back in an idyllic green valley to the foot of Monte Prato Fiorito.

Pleasant and easy hike both in wooded environments and on large meadows that are initially very wide and then become a ridge.

This tour can be started at the free public parking space. It is a great start-end tour with an amazing view at the ridge walk. Only be aware that you sometimes walk through high grass and bush. I only can recommend hiking shoes. But then its no problem. Take enough water and food with you, there is no store nearby.

Beautiful excursion on a mountain which, albeit with an altitude of only 1297 m, offers beautiful 360 ° views over Garfagnana and the Lima Valley, from Alpe Tre Potenze to the Apuan Alps. Known above all for the abundant flowering of daffodils in May, until the beginning of July it offers the opportunity to walk in the middle of a carpet of flowers. The access to the summit is very spectacular and takes place for the most part along the summit ridge. The rugged and rugged southern slopes of the mountain constitute a further attraction.
