This route was planned by komoot.
A tough solo walk on a circuit of Aran Fawddwy and Glasgwm. These are two of the lesser-appreciated peaks in Eryri (and as a result, were very quiet). Don't be fooled, though. The scenery is often spectacular (and occasionally boggy). I started out fatigued after the previous day on Cadair Berwyn, this was a fitness test! The views in the valley were fantastic, but the cloud set in at about 700 m. Unfortunately I had no views at the top of Aran Fawddwy and the rain was enough to encourage me to buy waterproof trousers for future outings. The route to Glasgwm was extremely boggy and then extremely steep! There is a little llyn near the summit, which must be one of the highest bodies of water in Wales. The descent was more gradual@ and then zig-zagged back to the valley, by which time I was knackered! Thankfully I managed to get some very welcome dinner at The Brigands Inn, Mallwyd, before the drive home. A strenuous route, but well worth it. For best results, choose a dry, clear day.
