This very scenic and varied tour from @radrevier.ruhr leads from Dorsten train station through parts of the Hohe Mark Nature Park and the Kirchheller Heide, one of the most beautiful landscapes in the area. A particular highlight of this tour is the Elsbachsee, also known as Pfingstsee, a subsidence lake resulting from coal mining. While your gaze will likely be drawn first to the deadwood standing in the water, you should also take a look at the water on the opposite side of the path. Here you'll find numerous pond frogs and dragonflies. A short distance further on, there's a lovely rest area right by the lake with a fantastic view. Passing the Heidesee, we cross the Wesel-Datteln Canal. From there, we return to Dorsten along the former railway line. Besides beautiful landscapes and stretches through the woods, the Holtmann tower windmill, dating from 1863, is a very special highlight on this section of the route. The final stretch takes us along the Lippe dike, following the Lippe River, and across the river on the railway bridge, which offers a beautiful view. We then cycle through Dorsten and return to our starting point. --- This bike tour is part of our collection: "Bike Tours in the Ruhr Area: Experience the Ruhr Area - Exploring the Ruhr Cycle Region" https://www.komoot.com/de-de/collection/1351281/-fahrradtouren-im-ruhrgebiet-das-ruhrgebiet-erfahren-unterwegs-im-radrevier-ruhr
Escaped from the big city again. A relaxed tour through the Wesel district. The tour starts in Dorsten. It doesn't take long before you're cycling in beautiful nature. Through several small villages, over old railway lines and forests are also a must.
I picked this tour from Komoot's suggested tour list. It was a nice loop. The weather was worse than predicted.
Went on a tour in perfect cycling weather. The Komoot collection drew my attention to it. I just changed the starting point. I was tired of repeating a tour again, Komoot knows lots of great and new tours.
On this tour (land outing) I start at Dorsten train station (unfortunately a construction site; the way from platform 1 is only possible via stairs). This stage is very rural. Just nice to cycle.
Wow, one of the most beautiful tours I've done. You drive around the corner and get a WOW effect when you see the lakes and there are dead trees in the water everywhere. Everywhere it chirps or beeps. Wonderful. Then you come onto a street and feel transported back 150 years. Really great. I'll definitely do the round again and again!!!
On this tour, you'll get to know the beautiful rural area of the Ruhr region. You'll start at the train station in Dorsten and head towards Bottrop. You'll cross the picturesque Kirchheller Heath, one of the most beautiful landscapes of its kind. Passing the wonderful Heidesee lake, which invites you to take a break, you'll cross the Wesel-Datteln Canal and cycle back to Dorsten on a well-maintained former railway line.
Very nice round with a lake landscape that is well worth seeing and very easy to drive on! Despite the Sahara dust, a great tour 👍
