Big tour through the mining ⛏️ area starting in Rodalquilar. Official hiking trail 🧦, in places more of a path and not suitable for cycling! Short detour up to the mine entrance (one of countless and freely accessible ones!) which was converted into a tunnel in a scene from 🤠 "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade". 😏
From Rodalquilar we walk around the Cerro del Cinto and explore a fertile riverbed, former mines and the ruins of a country house. Surrounded by palm trees, oleander and figs we enjoy wonderful views over the nature park. From Rodalquilar we climb up the Rambla de la Granadilla and hike along a wonderful mountain path on the back of the Cerro del Cinto. We then make a detour to the Cortijo del Fraile, an 18th century Dominican manor house. A tragedy that occurred here inspired Federico García Lorca to write his drama Blood Wedding. We hike back to Rodalquilar past impressive rocks and the remains of old mines.
A beautiful hike in an enchanting landscape, primarily on T2 trails. A wonderful day in the Sierra Cabo de Gata!
