July 27, 2024,Newlands Horseshoe from Little Town — Lake District National Park
Headed up to tick off my 50th wainwright 😃. Great loop but absolutely drenched from the moment go. Really simple route and I ended the hike with some familiar sights of Cat Bells. Which brought the only sun shine of the day. With this hike, it's takes my total to 51/214 💪.

Start/Finish = Chaplebridge Car Park
* new
Very cold snow above 500 metres hard going but very beautiful snow capped fells
I've been meaning to hike Catbells for a good while now, and with the Newlands Horseshoe added (slightly adjusted here and there to suit me) I got a great hike with lots of variation, some very steep climbs and decents, my poor knees 😆 and a bit of scrambling in places, but amazing weather and stunning views all round made …
Off on the hikers launch. Up Dogbells ™, then into cloud round to Robinson via High Spy (spied lots of cloud and Dalehead. Descent down and round to the Newlands valley and launch back. Rehydration courtesy of The Wainwright
(Can't call it Catbells, no sign of any of them)
An excellent hike over these hills today. Starting from Little Town car park, it was -4°C when we left. Only when we walked into sunlight along High Snab Bank towards Blea Crags, part way up Robinson, did it feel at all warmer. The views were stunning with almost no clouds in the sky.
Emerging onto the summit ridge of Robinson …
Quite a hike. Knew I'd been for a walk at the end of this one. Soooo windy on the tops but the clouds and the scenery just made it. Recommend this one. Just brilliant!
