Stickle Ghyll Waterfalls

Highlight • Natural Monument

Stickle Ghyll is one of the most popular locations for Ghyll Scrambling/Gorge Walking in the Lake District. There is over 2 kilometres to explore, with pools to wade through, waterfalls to climb and a number of deep pools - one of which is deep enough to jump into.

Stickle Tarn

Highlight • Natural

Nestled below the great craggy ramparts of Pavey Ark and Harrison Stickle, Stickle Tarn is surely one of the Lake District's most dramatically situated and beautiful tarns. Pavey Ark's great cliff towers over the water, home to Jack's Rake, a superb grade one scramble. Whether peak bagging, scrambling or wild swimming, Stickle Tarn is a place you won't soon forget.

Pavey Ark

Highlight • Climb

Pavey Ark will forever hold a special place in my heart! It was my 214th Wainwright - the final peak bagging cherry on top of my first Wainwright round back in 2018. I visited it again in 2021 and had a lovely warm feeling overlooking Stickle Tarn once again. What stunning views. Jack's Rake is a great scramble if you have a head for heights and enjoy putting your hands on the rock. For those wanting a more traditional walk, Pavey Ark can be approached from multiple other angles that avoid scrambling. The last time I hiked Pavey Ark, I approached it from Harrison Stickle and left towards Raise.
