Today we took the Bergweltenweg (Mountain World Trail) to Amshausen Switzerland, a beautiful circular route with almost no roads. Short, but challenging in places. But the view during a rest stop at the Schwedenschanze makes up for the climb 😎
On the first day of spring, under glorious sunshine, we set off from the parking lot at Friedrichshöhe in Steinhagen for a hike along the Bergweltenweg trail towards Schwedenschanze. During the hike, we passed seven hills, the highest of which, at 266 meters, is Petersberg near Schwedenschanze. Shortly before reaching Schwedenschanze, the trail led through the Steinhäger juniper heath. Juniper and heather form a symbiotic relationship here. The juniper is the basis for the world-famous Steinhäger schnapps. From Schwedenschanze, we continued towards Jacobsberg, where we admired the first blooming liverworts. We concluded our hike with coffee and cake in the outdoor seating area of the Friedenshöhe restaurant.
Today we hiked the Bergweltenweg near Steinhagen for the first time. Almost 8km and it was fantastically beautiful. There is a lot to discover. I have already finished the video to give you a few impressions: https://youtu.be/_xRAECIlE6s?si=bsyI1OVuPTMHVAPT
It had been on the agenda for a while and was implemented today in summer temperatures ☀️. The Bergweltenweg near Steinhagen is a quality hiking trail and rightly so 👍. There is a lot to offer here over a short to medium distance. Lots of forest, some water and above all great views from the Teuto into the OWL region. I can highly recommend the trail to everyone 👍🥾
Start and finish was at the much-visited Cafe Friedrichshöhe...it's just cult there.... Round is relatively muddy and dry Unfortunately some clear-cut areas...some of which allow for a wide view Of course, the juniper heather isn't blooming yet....but the first liverworts are already there... One or the other slope (especially up to the Schwedenschanze) requires some breath 😉
A recommended circular route in the Teutoburg Forest.
Beautiful circular hiking trail, varied, very well signposted and relatively relaxed...
This morning I went on our last hike of the year with my little sister. We started at -3°C, and it was too cold to take photos. But I've hiked this beautiful and varied mountain trail before, and if you'd like to see some photos, you can find them in my collection, "Our Teutoburg Forest." I wish you all a happy new year, and I promise to see you here again! 😉👋
