This more accessible variant has been renamed "Strade (less) Brute" and is ideal for all those who want to discover the Franciacorta area on a more inclusive route, characterized by decidedly shorter and less demanding climbs.
The Tour largely follows the one proposed by the organizers of the Strade Brute cycling event, sharing the hilly portion between the vines and cultivated fields, typical of the area. With a length of 70 kilometers and a positive difference in altitude of 1,000 meters, you will cycle mainly on secondary asphalts with little traffic, dirt roads and dirt roads.
Using the starting point indicated in the official itinerary as a reference – the hamlet of Monterotondo (Passirano) – the first twelve kilometers are all flat, safe and away from traffic and noise.
Before tackling the short but intense climbs, enjoy the small village of Valenzano (near Passirano), one of the oldest settlements in the entire municipal area, dating back to Roman times. And if you love art, stop by the religious complex of the Olivetan Abbey in Rodengo Saiano: just think that this architectural jewel, immersed in the quiet, is still inhabited today by monks.
The route continues on safe and smooth roads, which quickly lead to the first real effort of the day: you are in Gussago, from where the climb to the Sanctuary of the Star starts, tackled from the steepest slope. This section must be "attacked" with determination, the slope is double-digit for the entire ascent.
Warm your legs and once you have crossed the border with Valle Trompia, the track soon takes you to a fork of about a kilometer, all paved, towards the countryside of Rodengo Saiano.
The route proceeds without major bumps and runs alongside the Martignago torrent along the cycle/pedestrian path that connects Ome. At this point you are led inside one of the most characteristic places of Franciacorta, at the foot of the wooded slope of Monte Delma: the Museo del Maglio Averoldi.
Further on, the small hamlets of the Municipality of Monticelli Brusati will strike you with their harmony, up to the start of the second noteworthy climb, the one towards the Sanctuary of the Madonna del Corno, a splendid church with a panoramic view of the Torbiere del Sebino. There is also a small picnic area on site. This stretch is quite well known and popular because, in less than 200 meters of ascent, it offers sensational scenery. Just think that on the clearest and sharpest days you can even see the Apennines!
After a rather steep descent, you find yourself in the Torbiere del Sebino Nature Reserve. In this wonderful place you can abandon yourself to the charm of nature and the animal world, among stretches of water, unique reed thickets and flocks of birds in flight.
Finally, enjoy the plain, which keeps you company until the point of arrival.
