Hiking
Embark on the Busatte–Tempesta Panoramic Trail for a rewarding hike along Lake Garda's northeastern coast. This moderate route spans 5.6 miles (9.0 km) and involves an elevation gain of 899 feet (274 metres), typically taking about 2 hours and 42 minutes to complete. You will experience unique sections with metal stairs built directly into the rock face, offering spectacular views of the lake stretching towards Torbole, Limone sul Garda, and Malcesine, all while traversing lush Mediterranean vegetation.
To begin your adventure, you can access the trail from Parco delle Busatte in Torbole sul Garda or from the village of Tempesta. It is crucial to wear sturdy hiking shoes for good grip, especially on the metal stairs and any potentially slippery areas. Remember to carry enough water, as there are few refilling points along the way. This trail is not suitable for buggies or prams due to its narrow sections and stairs, and in winter, be aware that shaded areas might have ice in the mornings.
This trail is particularly notable for its sweeping panoramic views of Lake Garda, which are among the best in the region. The route's design, incorporating metal stairs, allows you to reach observation points that would otherwise be inaccessible, providing a truly unique perspective of the landscape. As you hike, you will pass through a blend of mountain and lake scenery, making it a distinctive experience for anyone exploring the area.

The full round trip for this trail is approximately 11 km and typically takes about 2.5 to 3 hours to complete, depending on your pace and how often you stop to enjoy the views. If you opt for a one-way hike, it's around 5 km.
The trail is generally considered moderate, or 'easy to middle' difficulty. While it doesn't require specific technical skills, a notable feature is the presence of about 400 metal stairs built into the rock face, particularly at sections like Corno di Bò (238 steps) and Salt de la Cavra (116 steps). The path is mostly even, winding through Mediterranean vegetation and woods, but these stairs and some climbs can be challenging. Good hiking shoes with grip are recommended.
The trail can be started from two main points: either from Parco delle Busatte in Torbole sul Garda or from the village of Tempesta. Both locations offer parking options. Starting from Parco delle Busatte is a popular choice, as it also features an adventure park.
This trail is famous for its breathtaking panoramic views of Lake Garda and the surrounding mountains. You'll encounter several privileged viewpoints, including the View of Torbole and Lake Garda, the View of Lake Garda from the Busatte-Tempesta Trail, and the View of Tempesta and Lake Garda. The impressive metal staircases themselves are a unique feature, offering exciting access to otherwise unreachable observation points.
While dogs are generally allowed on trails in the area, it's important to consider the specific challenges of this route. The trail includes numerous metal staircases and narrow sections, which might be difficult or uncomfortable for some dogs, especially larger breeds or those not accustomed to such terrain. Always keep your dog on a leash and ensure they are capable of navigating the stairs safely.
The trail is accessible and beautiful in every season, offering changing colors and vegetation throughout the year. However, for the most comfortable experience, spring and autumn provide pleasant temperatures and stunning scenery. During winter, be aware that shaded sections might have ice in the mornings. Summer can be hot, so an early start is advisable.
No, there are no specific permits or entrance fees required to hike the Busatte Tempesta panoramic trail itself. Similarly, access to Parco delle Busatte, which serves as a common starting point, is generally free. However, if you plan to use the adventure park facilities within Parco delle Busatte, there will be separate fees for those activities.
The trail is considered suitable for families with children who are accustomed to uneven terrain and hiking. However, due to the numerous metal stairs and narrow sections, it is not suitable for buggies or prams. Children should be comfortable with heights and able to manage the stairs independently or with minimal assistance.
Yes, the route primarily follows the Busatte-Tempesta Panoramic Trail. It also briefly intersects with sections of other trails such as the ANELLO GARDA SARCA and various segments of the Sentiero Panoramico Busatte Tempesta.
Given the terrain, suitable hiking shoes with good grip are essential. It's also crucial to carry enough water, as there are few refilling points along the route. Depending on the weather, layers of clothing, sun protection, and snacks are also recommended. A camera is a must for capturing the incredible panoramic views!
There are limited amenities directly on the trail itself. It's best to use facilities and stock up on supplies at the starting points, either in Torbole sul Garda near Parco delle Busatte or in the village of Tempesta, where you can find cafes and restrooms before or after your hike.
Easy for families with children. Left car in Panorama Parking in Busatte, followed Busatte-Tempesta path and then descend to Tempesta. 60 meters from the end of the path you will find a bus stop for Riva del Garda which arrives in Busatte in 6 minutes. 10 minutes you can reach the parking lot on foot.
A hike up ladder stairs with a fantastic panoramic view of Lake Garda. Starting from a small parking lot in Tempesta, the hike begins with a gentle climb of about 15 to 20 minutes that leads to a fork in the road where you turn left onto the path that leads to the first of three steps. While climbing the stairs you always have the opportunity to enjoy the wonderful view of Lake Garda. The tour ends in Torbole at Busatte Park. The hike can easily be done in both directions. We took the bus back to Tempesta due to a cloudburst in Torbole.
I don't even know how to start or what to tell you. Just look at the pictures - pure enjoyment hiking. Breathtaking views
The main attraction of this trail are the three steel staircases that bridge the rough section and allow you to walk above the vegetation. There are beautiful views of the lake and the surrounding towns time and again. In the end, the thunderstorm was a little faster than us.
Today I hiked the "Busatte Tempesta" hiking trail all by myself. Not only is the landscape up there beautiful, but the 3 ladders leading up to over 400 steps along the outside of the mountainside also have my utmost respect. I had to really overcome myself to go up there 😱🫣🥵. But! I made it 😁👍🥾🎒. A great hike and one more experience! 😃. I still have one day, let's see what I do. The weather is wonderful... except for my cold 🥴🙄
Really worth it. No particular difficulty. A superb view of Lake Garda.

Since @Sandra was a little better on foot today, we drove to Torbole, where we hiked this beautiful panoramic path on the slopes above the village. In addition to the incredible view, this path offers many interesting information and information boards that explain the geology as well as fauna and flora in detail :)
