The S601 is possible as an ambitious day tour or as a leisurely variant for two days. You follow in the footsteps of the salt pirates, who wreaked havoc along the Traun up until the 11th century. The salt was in great demand and was transported on rafts and boats…

-please do not follow- New corners sometimes mean taking paths that you don't know yet. Like this time. In itself it is a nice round, but you can't really get from the Offensee (super nice!) to the other side of the Eibenberg. A MTB single trail (S4 up, S2 down) goes up there. Here is the Komoot highlight, please don't be fooled by the pictures: https://www.komoot.de/highlight/819842 We knew what we were getting ourselves into. carry bike! But this area really has it all. Due to the strong rain falls of the last time, the area is super washed out, rooty, partly over 70% incline. Hence the advice: do not follow. Even coming from the other side with the MTB, this trail is really only for experts and only during the week. Even MTB riders came towards us who said it wasn't fun. Sooo, but! The valley down to the Rindbach is really beautiful! If you don't mind a dead-end tour, you should take a closer look at this valley.
Hike a kilometer uphill on the S4 MTB trail. Good idea! Otherwise there was risotto in Ebensee, 30 degrees and another visit to the Chorinsky Klause. Just because it's so nice in the corner. 🫠
