Road cycling

The Nerja, Frigiliana, and Torrox loop is a road cycling route that plunges you into the heart of the Axarquía, where the Sierra mountains meet the Mediterranean. You can expect landscapes of green rolling valleys and white limestone rock, with the charm of white villages like Frigiliana. The 33.2-kilometer route, with 629 meters of elevation gain, offers a visually rich experience, from mountain peaks to the coastline, passing viewpoints such as El Peñoncillo. It's a journey that rewards you with panoramic views with every pedal stroke.

For this moderately difficult route, which will take you approximately 1 hour and 46 minutes, good physical preparation is crucial. The initial climb towards Frigiliana is the most demanding section, but the views that open up over the Sierra de Almijara and the coast are the best incentive. In Frigiliana and Torrox pueblo, you'll find places to rest and refuel. Keep in mind that, although the asphalt has been improved in some sections, the steep descents and tight turns require constant attention.

This route is one of the most outstanding options for road cycling in the area, even forming part of EuroVelo 8. It allows you to experience the beauty of Frigiliana, with its flower-filled streets, and the diverse landscape of Málaga. The combination of mountainous terrain and Mediterranean sea views, with the possibility of seeing the Atlas Mountains on clear days, makes it a unique experience for cycling enthusiasts.

January 1, 2023,New Year's Day quick blast, well not quite a blast!😂
Easy ride with a big downhill at the start. Flat along the costa and then the 'torment of Torrex'. Good surfaces. Little traffic.
Cycling can be so beautiful ... after a short warm-up, into the 12 km ramp with up to 16% increase rates through the green Torrox door. In addition, beautiful distant views and impressive white villages. Gladly again and then next time with real sun.
