Great hike, but it took us four hours because of the weather. But otherwise, it was great 🥰
Beautiful, always promising circular hike along the Italian-French border. You can find my detailed blog post here: https://hikingthealps.com/tour-du-lausfer/
Classic, quiet trip with breathtaking views. Highly recommended to stop until sunset and return in the dark. Travel along the Stura Valley to Vinadio and turn just beyond the town towards Colle della Lombarda, in the direction of the Santuario di Sant'Anna (medieval origins and the highest sanctuary in Europe). Well signposted. It is recommended to go along the ring going straight at the fork, rather than turning right, because in this way you will always find the lakes in front, rather than behind you.
Departure from the Sanctuary of Sant'Anna di Vinadio, after Vinadio, towards Colle della Lombarda. Beautiful places need to be revisited every now and then! Relatively simple itinerary, but requires a minimum of training. Unparalleled views of the lakes and the two Italian-French sides. Lots of ibex. ⚠️ Warning: from Col du Saboulet to Passo Tesina the path still has numerous snow-covered sections. Mostly load-bearing snow; crampons are not necessary, but poles are. Be careful. PS: altitude difference and timing are not exact: it is about 560 d+ and 3.5 h without breaks for the entire ring. It is better to go first to Col du Lausfer and return from Tesina, because this way the balcony path is less impressive, especially with snow.
