Hiking
Explore Burcina Natural Park, a moderate hike spanning 4.4 miles (7.1 km) with an elevation gain of 757 feet (231 metres), typically taking around 2 hours and 8 minutes to complete. This route winds through a diverse botanical garden, offering panoramic views of the Biella plain and distant mountains on clear days. You will encounter centuries-old trees, including majestic sequoias, and pass by a romantic small lake with fountains. The highlight is often the Rhododendron Hollow, which transforms into a vibrant, fairytale-like landscape when in bloom, usually between May and June.
The park is primarily pedestrian-only, making it ideal for a peaceful hike. However, special provisions allow vehicles for disabled or elderly visitors on non-holiday Thursdays and Saturday mornings. The trails are generally well-marked and suitable for families and children, making it a great year-round destination. You can reach the Martini Tower at the park's highest point for exceptional views of the surrounding landscape.
Established in the mid-19th century by textile entrepreneur Giovanni Piacenza, the park was designed as an English-style landscape garden, blending natural features with human design. Since 1980, it has been recognized as the Felice Piacenza Special Nature Reserve, preserving its rich botanical heritage across 57 hectares. The park boasts an internationally renowned collection of both native and exotic plant species, providing ever-changing scenery throughout the seasons, and supports diverse fauna including fish and turtles in its lake.

Out of town trip. Easy route, time spent about 2 hours excluding time for a packed lunch and a rest on the grass. Beautiful colors and views. You can park either on the street or in the parking lot (park entrance in Pollenzo) inside about 5 euros all day or 1.10 per hour. Payable with coins or card.
There is a park near Biella where in autumn you can immerse yourself in a palette of colors! The Burcina Park Nature Reserve can be visited for free and is a splendid walk, a trek accessible to everyone, adults and children. A pleasant green oasis to discover, step by step, slowly climbing towards the summit to enjoy the view, the ideal opportunity to spend a day outdoors.
