Hiking

Embark on an easy hike from Cineto Romano to Torrente Rio Freddo, a route known for its diverse natural beauty within the Parco Naturale Regionale dei Monti Lucretili. You will traverse forested hills and river valleys, following the clear waters of the Rioscuro stream, which feeds numerous spectacular waterfalls. This accessible trail covers 2.5 miles (4.0 km) with a gentle elevation gain of 762 feet (232 metres), making it suitable for all skill levels and taking about 1 hour and 24 minutes to complete.

The path itself features both paved and unpaved sections, offering easily accessible terrain for most of its length. While the main route is straightforward, you can extend your journey beyond Torrente Rio Freddo to explore the "Sentiero delle Cascate" for higher waterfalls, though this extension becomes steeper and more strenuous. For those seeking a challenge, certain diversions like the Cascata della Doccia are exposed and recommended only for experienced hikers with appropriate footwear.

This area is rich in water, with the Rioscuro stream giving rise to the famous Riofreddo waterfalls, a highlight of the route. You can also find the Fonte Vecchia, a source of fresh water, via a short section of the Coleman Trail. Near the stream, look for a sculpture dedicated to the women of Cineto Romano, commemorating their historical contributions. The picturesque village of Cineto Romano, with its historic Orsini Castle, is also worth exploring before or after your hike.
