Parking available from Premassone, can be busy on weekend. From June to September, the daily rate is of 5€. You will find the machine to pay by the refuge (where there is electricity). They only accept credit cards to pay for the parking. You can get a coffee and great advices for your walk from the staff at the refuge. They take credit card and cash.
One of the most challenging excursions done so far, beautiful views and uncommon paths. First close encounter with a huge viper and a chamois!
Tour in the Val Malga in the Adamello park. Starting from the Guat bridge, touching Lake Miller with its Gnutti refuge, then passing through the lake and Baitone refuge and then moving towards Lake Rotondo with the panoramic Tonoli refuge.
Braving a gloomy sky, we tackled this splendid circular route in the heart of the Adamello Park, which allows you to visit 4 refuges (Premassone, Gnutti, Baitone and Tonolini, my favorite and arrival point at 2,450m) and 3 lakes: the artificial ones of Miller and Baitone with their respective dams, and the last, natural and most fascinating, Lago Rotondo, just after the Tonolini refuge. Don't be frightened by the Miller Stairs (400m of difference in height on steps that anyone can calmly do) or by the Passo del Gatto, which is a little exposed, but equipped with chains. Honorable mention to the blueberry tart of the Premassone Refuge.
Valmalga Gnutti Refuge, Cristallo Pass, Tonolini Refuge. You can park comfortably at Malga Premassone from there the legendary stairs of the Miller begin which rise like an elevator to take you to the Gnutti refuge https://www.facebook.com/RifugioGnutti/ in this beautiful and green suspended valley, the refuge is next to the lake artificial that one always of the beautiful colors on the green. Here, after a couple of hours of walking, you need a good coffee and a slice of cake. We leave the path forks and on one side we go to the Passo del Gatto towards the Baitone refuge (see previous post), we instead skirt the lake almost to the bottom where a large stone man tells you to go up from there. the path climbs in this very green uphill prairie. The path has suffered damage from recent rains, and luckily today it is at least dry, I hear behind it me a not too soft rumbling 😉❤️, but we go up, we go up and after two and a half hours we arrive at the #passodelcristallo. and here at 2890 you are rewarded for all the effort made, goal achieved and spectacular views. A sandwich to give us some energy back and we look down on the other side, as from the balcony, we had already done it but the memory had faded and we were told that there is a small piece of chain but nothing special .... (it says the sin but not the sinner) in reality the descent with two sections of rather challenging chains for those who are not used to climbing and similar things put us to the test but a bit of adrenaline did its job and we arrived under. A #ganda begins where you can have fun jumping from stone to stone, if you still have some ... and after a couple of hours from the Pass you arrive at the splendid Tonolini refuge https://www.facebook.com/628962053857719/. A refuge set in a beautiful place in the middle of the crests amphitheater of the Baitone and on the shores of a beautiful alpine lake overlooking the valley. We go down because it is already half past five, we arrive at the car at 7.30. the path to descend is very regular but it seems to me very damaged by the torrential rains of recent years, it would need a substantial system to make it accessible to all. 16 km, 1,200 meters in altitude, 8h30 'of walking, 11h ~ excursion duration. #trail #trekking #hiking #alps #mountain #wood #rifugilombardia #alps # refuge #glacier #Slowpace
Classic tour of the three refuges (Gnutti, Baitone and Tononili) passing through the Gatto pass. Always a nice ride, not too demanding.
