Escape the hustle and bustle of the city and immerse yourself in the embracing nature and silence: The path of the Burg-Olymp tour winds through the forests around Bernkastel and leads to magical viewpoints such as the St. Anna Chapel, the Wilhelmshöhe and the Olymp, the highest elevation of this hike. Insights into the hiking tour: This circular hike reveals breathtaking views of the Moselle valley, a multifaceted landscape and fascinating insights into the history of the town of Bernkastel-Kues. From the car park on the banks of the Moselle, head to the tourist information office on the banks in Bernkastel, the official starting point of the tour. Past the St. Anna Chapel, the path leads through the forest towards the gold mining town of Andel. The Olymp viewpoint, which you reach about halfway through the hike, proves to be an ideal rest stop. The path leads downhill to the Landshut castle ruins, whose venerable walls date back to the 4th century. Charming places to stop off invite you to linger in the old town of Bernkastel-Kues and in the Schützenhaus on the way down.
Hiking day with the girls in one of the most popular towns on the Moselle: Bernkastel-Kues. First time there – and straight into the rain. But hey: the less sun, the better the photos 📸💁♀️ Romance, old town, vineyards, and wet shoes – what more could you want? 🤗🤩 Unfortunately, my phone ran out of power quickly... 4 km saved. 😂😂
After yesterday's thunderstorm and further expected rain, we stayed nearby today. Above Berkastel-Kues, the St. Anna Chapel stands in the middle of the forest as the end station of a Way of the Cross. It is easy to see from the village below and I wanted to get a little closer to it today. The chapel dates from 1890. The large mosaic on one wall was very impressive. It cannot be seen from the banks of the Moselle! I then came to Bernkasteler Olymp, which at 415m is the highest elevation in the Moselle-Hünsruck. I did not want to stay very long as rain was forecast. It then came at the height of Landshut Castle, which I did not visit today. Down below, in Bernkastel-Kues, the sun was shining again. There was still time for an ice cream before the parking ticket ran out! The tour is also well signposted and is called the Burg-Olymp Tour and leads along beautiful forest paths.
At the end of our weekend trip to the Moselle, we hiked through and in Bernkastel-Kues today. Due to wafts of fog in the morning, we were able to experience fantastic views and take beautiful pictures. Then later we had blinding sunshine 😉 Bernkastel-Kues are two districts, one on the left and one on the right of the Moselle and can be reached via a bridge. Bernkastel in particular is the excitingly beautiful city with a historic old town, wonderful half-timbered romance and a mercilessly beautiful backdrop. Our hike took us through this old town, up the vineyards, to Landshut Castle, with a wonderful view of the entire city and surroundings, to the Schützenhaus cafe and on to Mount Olympus, the highest elevation (415 m) with a wonderful view and shelter. If you want to go to Olympus, you should be an ambitious hiker, the ascent is merciless, takes a lot of strength and endurance, have rarely paid so much tribute 🥵 For this, the circular route is followed by a great walk over the (1/2)
1 day of vacation on the Moselle and a short hike, stayed in the forest according to the temperatures. The starting point was at the car park in Bernkastel-Kues directly on the Moselle. From there we went in the direction of the Hotel Alte Post and then we followed the markings of our tour. Super signposted and varied. Perfect round for the first day and few people on the way.
Defying the fog again in the morning and taking a great tour over the Wilhelmshöhe to Mount Olympus and on to Landshut Castle. The path led to the Wilhelmshöhe over steep gradients, but very easily accessible paths. Unfortunately, the fog still has a firm grip on the Moselle valley. On a great and narrow trail we went to Mount Olympus, from where we now had a good view of the Moselle valley. Then we relaxed on a MTB trail (without traffic 😉) to Landshut Castle, where you have a great view of the Moselle loop and Bernkastel-Kues. All round a recommended tour. 👍👌
Actually we had planned the Bernkasteler Schweiz today, unfortunately it was closed due to tree felling work dann, then we went on the Burg-Olymp-Tour..was also super nice ...

A nice hiking tour, with a great view of the Moselle, unfortunately too much mountain bike traffic on very narrow paths, we were traveling with a small child, I found it very dangerous.
