At the foot of the Persailhorn, at an altitude of 1,752 meters, lies the Peter-Wiechenthaler-Hütte, a wooden building offering stunning views of Saalfelden. The hut is very popular, as the friendly hosts serve hearty meals. Overnight stays are also possible – ideally with advance booking – and include a breathtaking sunset.

You should be reasonably fit, as the hike involves an ascent of over 800 meters along beautiful, sometimes narrow and rocky paths. You'll be rewarded with magnificent views at every step and around every bend.

Don't forget to check the opening times of the mountain huts before your hike. Many have shorter opening hours in autumn, and some close completely from mid-October onwards.
