Beautiful cycle path both asphalted and gravel, at times a little narrow, but well maintained. Crowded with people in the summer near the inhabited centers, it is still long enough to fully enjoy it.

This mountain bike loop, the "MTB nel Parco delle Groane e della Brughiera Briantea - Giro ad anello", typically takes around 3 hours and 21 minutes to complete. This duration is for the full 48.8 km route.

What is the terrain like on this MTB route?

The route offers a diverse range of surfaces. You'll encounter paved sections, unpaved routes, asphalt, natural paths, and dirt roads. Within the park, expect singletracks, gravel paths, forest paths, mule tracks, and farm roads. Much of the path is made of 'calcestre', which is generally flowing and regular, but some parts can be irregular or muddy, especially after rain.

What are the main points of interest along the way?

As you ride, you'll pass several interesting spots. Highlights include the historic Villa Arconati, the scenic Villoresi Canal towpath in Senago, and natural areas like the Limbiate Oasis, Zoca dei Pirutit Pond, and the Enchanted Forest of the Groane. You'll also cross a charming wooden bridge within the park.

Is this mountain bike trail suitable for beginners?

The route is generally classified as a 'moderate' mountain bike ride. While some sections might be suitable for all skill levels, the overall moderate rating suggests that good physical fitness is required, and some parts might correspond to an STS S2 difficulty level. If you're a beginner, be prepared for varied terrain and some potentially challenging sections.

What is the best time of year to ride this trail?

The Parco delle Groane e della Brughiera Briantea is beautiful year-round, but spring and autumn generally offer the most pleasant riding conditions with mild temperatures and vibrant foliage. Summer can be warm, and after heavy rain, some sections of the trail might become muddy and more challenging.

Are dogs allowed on the trail?

Yes, dogs are generally allowed within the Parco delle Groane e della Brughiera Briantea. However, it's always recommended to keep them on a leash, especially in areas where wildlife is present or when passing other visitors, to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.

Do I need a permit or is there an entrance fee for the Parco delle Groane e della Brughiera Briantea?

No, there is no entrance fee or special permit required to access the Parco delle Groane e della Brughiera Briantea or to ride this specific MTB loop. The park is freely accessible to the public.

Where can I park to access the trail?

You'll also ride sections of the Ciclabile Villoresi and the main Pista ciclabile N° 1 within the park, which extends almost 25 km from south to north.

What kind of natural scenery and wildlife can I expect to see?

The trail takes you through extensive forests, primarily of oak and pine, alongside birch, sycamore, hornbeam, elm, and ash trees. You'll also pass through moorland and farmland. The park is known for its diverse flora and fauna, so keep an eye out for various bird species and other small animals that inhabit this protected natural environment.

Are there any facilities like water or restrooms along the route?

While the route passes through a natural park, specific facilities like public restrooms or water fountains are not guaranteed directly on the trail. It's advisable to carry enough water for the entire ride and plan stops in nearby towns or at park visitor centers if you need facilities.

What should I bring for this mountain bike ride?

Given the moderate difficulty and varied terrain, we recommend bringing a well-maintained mountain bike, a helmet, appropriate cycling attire, sufficient water, and snacks. A basic repair kit, spare tube, and a first-aid kit are also good to have. Consider bringing a navigation device or a downloaded map, as some sections might be less clearly marked.

@Thank you thank you thank you ❤️ amazing ride. I covered myself in mud. But without this app I would NEVER have been able to. Thanks again

Don't redo too many tracks lost in brambles, felled trees, fords, loose dogs, no it doesn't make sense, don't do it

Nice MTB ride through the meanders of the woods of Parco delle Groane, a protected area north of Milan. Departure near the beautiful Villa Arconati (Il Castellazzo) and then along the Villoresi (still under maintenance at the end of April). From here the path continues on a fun route in the Park Woods that runs along the Lombra stream: beautiful uncontaminated areas between greenery and running water. The route winds up to Camnago to return to the Park crossing very simple S0/S1 paths, almost vehicular paths and cycle paths. A beautiful green lung on the outskirts of Milan! 86% 7.5
