The starting point is the Mezzana train station, which you can easily reach by BikeTrain and BikeBus during the summer. Check the schedules and routes: https://www.valdisolebikeland.com/it/valdisolebikeland/plan-go/bike-train-bikebus
Start from the station and head towards Ossana, but don't enter the village. Instead, turn right towards Val di Pejo and prepare for a climb with some decidedly steep sections, which continues more pleasantly along the beautiful forest road to Malga Campo, where we recommend stopping to try their delicious strudel.
To reach Lake Celentino, you'll have to tackle a flat but quite technical stretch of forest trail, where you may have to push your bike. Once you reach the lake, enjoy the breathtaking view before continuing on a rough trail through a beautiful alpine setting to the malga.
Take the opportunity to catch your breath before descending on a steep dirt road. From Malga Stabli, another short climb awaits you on a pleasant forest road. Once you reach a private mountain hut, descend first onto a smooth dirt forest road that then connects to a paved road. Once at the bottom of the valley, continue along the Val di Sole bike path to Ossana.
There are numerous water stations along the route where you can refill your water bottles. Malga Campo and Malga Stabli offer excellent food service, serving the best traditional local dishes.
To best tackle the more technical sections of this route, we recommend tubeless tires with a diameter of at least 45 mm.
