Great way to get to Oldenburg and back. Mostly car-free. Take a walking tour of Oldenburg starting at the castle (and its gardens). Very beautiful city.
Today I was out on the biobike again. Here in the north there are no mountains and most of it is paved, so it works without electricity if the wind isn't blowing...😆 My wife and I really enjoyed the cycled route, especially the stretch from Oldenburg to Bad Zwischenahn, which has been developed as a complete cycle expressway. The university town of Oldenburg is a lively city worth seeing and with almost 180k inhabitants, the third largest city in Lower Saxony. Our starting point, Bad Zwischenahn, the largest community in Ammerland and a beautiful spa town, is located directly on the Zwischenahner Meer. We can highly recommend our hotel "Am Rosenteich" in Bad Zwischenahn to all cyclists, as it offers covered bike storage and even charging stations for e-bikes. If you book directly, it will be 15% cheaper. We can also recommend the nearby Ahrenshoop restaurant, but please make a reservation in advance.
Just let it roll... A relaxed and beautiful round from Bad Zwischenahn to the city of Oldenburg, through the southeast of the Ammerland. Again and again impressive tree nurseries and horticultural businesses. Some raised bogs with active degradation. Some of the cycle paths and cycle lanes are "under revision", but there are always construction sites that are easy to avoid 😉 The city of Oldenburg with some highlights but also with urban hustle and bustle. On the way there are a few places to stop for refreshments, especially coffee and cake in the Scholjegerdes-Hof.
Bicycle tour from Bad Zwischenahn to Oldenburg and back
Weather forecast was ideal - so let's go to the Bad Zwischenahner Meer. We pushed the bikes in the Kurpark. We took a break in the cafe at the former fishing port. Then, according to the weather forecast, a "small rain cloud" came. We then waited 1.5 hours and drove back in the continuous rain 🌧🌧🌧. We also shortened the tour. 😔😔😔
A short stretch along the 🚂railway line, back on the 🚲cycle path. The cycle path is great to ride on, past the Kayhauserfeld Moor. I'll definitely ride there again 🥰
In perfect weather, a beautiful, shady, and nature-oriented tour through wonderful Oldenburg to Lake Zwischenahner. A friendly, fun group and a good mood despite the rising heat. 😊
