Olaf
August 27, 2024, Ammerland Touristik: Die Moorroute

The moor route comes from a small booklet from the Ammerland district, Ammerland Touristik. The booklet contains 15 themed routes, some of which start and end directly in Bad Zwischenahn. This tour is one of them. And since I wanted to do a round trip from Bad Zwischenahn, I decided on this one. Details of the round trip can be found in the original description below or the link provided. On the website, which you can access via the link, you can download a GPX file and a detailed tour description in PDF format. I found the tour very varied, by the way. Description: The route is characterized by easy-to-ride straight moorland paths, most of which lead through the wide fen area around Petersfehn. The roads here are expressly signposted as "moor roads" and in some places invite you to "wave riding" in a very special way. One or two peat cutting fields with many long rows of stacked peat sods can be seen along the way. Source: Ammerland Touristik https://www.ammerland-touristik.de/rad-aktiv/tour/moorroute

Today, I spontaneously took the Ammerland Touristik "Moor Route." A beautiful route with plenty of pure nature! @Rolli I checked all the junctions along the route. All of them are there, not overgrown, and clearly visible. 😊

Very nice and varied tour. You can also drive more slowly. Lots of moor and processing, lots of rhododendrons, so absolutely worth experiencing even when they are in bloom. Hydrangeas, bamboo plantations, tree nurseries, rustic forests. Take advantage of what Mother Nature has to offer. Unfortunately, as is often the case, there are very few places to stop for refreshments. We were really happy with the snack bar at the two bridges in Jeddeloh. Coffee and cake, cold drinks and culinary delights not just from the deep fryer. Otherwise, self-catering huts are ideal for resting.

From Bad Zwischenahn, this circular tour takes you along easily navigable moorland paths, most of which lead through the wide fen area around Petersfehn. On the way, you will pass peat cutting fields where you can see long rows of stacked peat sods. You will also cycle along moorland meadows, cross mysterious moorland areas such as the Dänikhoster Moor and the Fintlandsmoor, and pay a lovely visit to the Küstenkanal. I really enjoyed the Ammerland Tour 🚴🤩🤩🤩 It won't be the last time. The gigantic new cycle path is wonderful to ride.

Today we did our sixth little holiday tour from Bad Zwischenahn Specken. The tour is a change from the Moorroute, which in turn is one of the themed routes in Bad Zwischenahn. In Edewecht we left the route briefly to take a latte macchiato break in Elly's Café. We really liked Elly's Café, which is run by a nice couple. We had a very tasty caramel latte macchiato and an equally tasty hazelnut latte macchiato. Then we went back to the tour exit and continued our actual tour. It was another lovely bike tour here in Ammerland.

A nice round wsr it with great paths and wonderfully signposted. Here you drive to junctions and that went without any problems. 👍🚴‍♀️😊🙋‍♀️

Cycle the moor route today and again completely satisfied. From Edewecht the sky darkened and we shifted up a gear. But the weather gods meant well with us and we arrived back dry at our starting point. There was even a rhododendron in bloom at the watermill. During the flowering period, the landscape here must look gigantic, with all the rhododendrons that are everywhere.

Today we were out and about in Ammerland. We had planned the signposted moor route, approx. 57 km. It has become 71 km, which was probably due to missing, twisted or not seen signs🤔. But it was still a nice tour through a lot of nature. The Ammerland is always beautiful.
